What Causes Early And Heavy Menstruation?

Hey... I'm 21 years old.. My period started early this month than usual with severe bleeding that lasted for 3 days.. is this something i should be worried about? I'm below weight and I usually eat only one light meal a day. I'm sexually active but my partner hasn't broken my hymen.
