What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure And Pain In Chest While On Metpure?

I started metpure - xl 50 on 12 January 2016. But I have headache in the morning for about four hours and on Saturday late evening my BP went up to 165/99 and I felt pain in my chest. Then I took one tablet of diseral - AZM. pain and BP subsided in 40 minutes. Since then I have been fine. I run for 30 minutes every morning. My question is why my BP went up even when I have been taking the medicine.
