What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Despite Taking Lisinopril?
I am taking 20 mg Lisinopril daily. Today, my blood pressure range over a period of 16 hours ranged from 128/66 to 167/82. Should I ask my doctor to increase Lisinopril dosage? I am 82 years old and just had an annual physical. My doctor suggested that a dosage increase might be needed.
Hi & Welcome. Inadequate dose of the prescribed medication seems to be the cause of your elevated BP. Your BP does not seem to be controlled with Lisinopril 20 mg tablet. It needs to be increased and/or an additional medication like Hydrocholorthiazide to be to be added for the effective reduction of elevated BP. Hope you will consult your treating physician for this modification.
