What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure In A Person With Fractured Hand?

I recently fractured my hand when I had a cast put on it about 4 weeks ago, my blood pressure reading was 165/80. I attributed it to being in pain and my hand was very swollen. Today I went in to have the cast removed ans it was 155/78. I am usually 120 or 127/78. Should I be concerned? I am 63 in good shape female 5 2 and 125lbs

hi
thanks for posting in HCM
I have understand your concern

high BP detected during fracture mostly secondary to pain as you said , if you have higher readings again , probabilities are
1. white coat hypertension
2.essential hypertension

I can suggest you to check BP regularly for 3 days at different timings with some precautions like after passing stools in the morning and no coffee before checking BP .

if you get high readings more than 140/90 then you have to be started on medications

before medications I can suggest you life style modifications like regular exercise and low salt food.

hope I have answered your questions

any further questions I'm on to answer

thanks
