What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Level After A Total Abdominal Hysterectomy?

On feb 17 of this year I had a TLAH. My blood pressure shot up twice to 240/130. Anesthesiologist was able to get it down each time so surgery could continue. All biopsys came back benign but had a cyst causing bleeding. (I m a white 60 year old active wife). We still do not know why I spiked. Perhaps allergic to antibiotic given in prepping or anesthesia. If you could shed light on that question I would appreciate it but my main question is this....before surgery because of hot flashes I was on medroprogesterone and estradiol 1mg. After surgery Dr left me on estradiol 1 mg. I am also continuing metoprolol 25 mg 2xd for pvc. They have been managed. Now they are back every day. Is this because of the hysterectomy and should I contact my doctor

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The elevated blood pressure is not related to hysterectomy.

Consult a physician and start antihypertensives to make your blood pressure under control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
