What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Level Despite Taking Medications?
i am on 4 different blood pressure medicines and still my dr is not given me anything that keeps it down.It will go down but by ateter a few hrs is is back up to 150 over 95 or higher. she just keeps adding more and it seems to do no good. Is there any kind that is really effective. It runs in my family. I have 10 bros and sisters and every one of us is on some kind and my father had it really bad
I should explain it to you that the blood pressure of an individual is not a static entity. It keeps changing. So while the medicines are effective in the body, blood pressure is low. Once the effect wears off, the BP rises again.
However, it is unusual for BO to remain high after multiple medications.
I would recommend a renal Doppler followed by an abdominal scan with angiogram (if needed) to look for a possible renal artery stenosis. This is one of the causes of treatment resistance. If renal artery stenosis is detected, the treatment would be very different.
Hope I have answered your query.
