Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a diabetic and hypertensive. I am on metformin 500 mg after breakfast & 250 mg post supper and losartan 25 mg once a day..on the 3rd night as of now my BP shoot up (160-180/77-73 mm Hg) w/o me feeling any symptoms. I started increasing my losartan to 50 mg at bedtime since Thursday so that s 2 nights ago. I had my BP taken a while ago & it s 143/73. What do I need to do? It used to be controlled with 25 mg of losartan but lately it went up.
Hi I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. I think I can help you. I would however like to know- what were the preceding activities prior to taking the BP? what is your current salt intake levels compared to before? what are the sugar levels? are you under any stress?
Meanwhile, while you respond to those questions, I should inform you that excess dose of medicines for blood pressure may lead you to cause a fall of blood pressure and this may sometimes have drastic effects.
Best of luck, Awaiting your response, Dr Mittal
