What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels While On Ibuprofen?
Yes, I always used to have low blood pressure, I am 64 and have used ibuprofen for many years. Now for the last 6-8 years my blood pressure has been high especially the systolic. I recently discovered that ibuprofen can cause high blood pressure in people over 50 so I stopped taking it. It has been weeks now, but the systolic is still high will it ever come back down?
Ibuprofen does not usually cause increased blood pressure in people. Ibuprofen is a prostaglandin inhibitor. It can affect the blood flow in some people but this is not enough to cause changes in the blood pressure in most people.
The most likely cause for raised blood pressure is usually calcification of the blood vessels because of increased lipid levels or cholesterol. This can cause the force needed to push the blood to increase. Usually, seeing a cardiologist and getting a blood pressure check up would be very useful. In case the blood pressure is high, one can consider medication to treat the symptoms.
The cardiologist would be the best person to suggest the next treatment option and the medication to take.
I hope this helps you! All the best.
