Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m having unusual high blood pressure I m out of state and due to fly home early am I usually only need to take 1/2 on hgtz and all is well. My readings last 5 days are190 over 112 ive taken while hgtz and a lisinopril this am and stats are same I want to take another lisinopril to bring it down is that safe
It is safe to take another half tablet of Hydrochlorothiazide and another tablet of Lisinopril.
I would also recommend consulting as soon as possible with your doctor for a physical exam and some tests to investigate for the possible causes of high blood pressure:
- a chest X ray study - complete blood count - kidney and liver function tests - blood electrolytes - thyroid hormone levels - PCR and ESR for inflammation.
If high blood pressure persist, despite increasing the dose of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide, I would recommend adding new drugs in order to help manage your blood pressure values.
Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
