Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past 2 months, I have had a problem with blood pressure being excessively high, with a heart rate ranging from 108-151, resting heart rate ranges from 90-110. The problem arises when I get up and move around or am on my feet for just a few minutes. My bp and pulse rate go up. I am currently on Losrtan 100 daily and Diltiazem 240 in am and 120 in pm. I have been on this dosage for 2 weeks. BP alittle better but heart rate still high. Heart rate decrease quickly when I sit down. What are some possible causes?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. You are taking drugs for high blood pressure and tachycardia (high pulse rate). Still you have uncontrolled pulse and blood pressure. This suggest that your current drugs are either not effective or under dosing. We should also rule out other cardiac complications like coronary artery disease (CAD) and aortic aneurysm for your symptoms. So get done stress test and angiography. You may need additional drugs like nifedipine, clonidine, metoprolol etc. So consult Cardiologist and discuss all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
