What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

I recently went to my dentist and she took my bp and it was 177 over 102 and this is unusual for me. Normally it is 145 over 80 or 78 I asked her to take it again in 45 minutes and it was around the same I have been monitoring it at home with my own bp cuff and it is 164 over 91 I am concerned and will see my family doctor on Monday. In the meantime I have taken my medication which is Ramipril 5 mg. I take one every night. Should I take two one at night and one in the morning.
