What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

I have been on medication for high blood pressure for several years and my pressure has been normal. I moved from San Diego to Escondido two months ago and all of a sudden my blood pressure readings have one through the roof! Could my medication all of a sudden become ineffective?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, your worry is genuine its not possible that your blood pressure medicine become ineffective all of a sudden there could be more reasons behind it, many times its because of change in altitude and as I could see you have shifted from coastal area to hilly area that could be the cause for your change in blood pressure along with that if you have some recent changes in your lifestyle like food habits or so.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Medhavi Agarwal
