Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood pressure was 165/110 after feeding cattle in the 40 degree cold today at noon. It has been around 140/92 most of the early evening but now at home where it is warm, it has returned to my normal range of 116/74. Can cold weather elevate blood pressure this much.
Yes, there are many factors which can change your blood pressure. The first volume and secondly, sodium levels can hold the water in the body.
Cold weather which leads the vessels to constrict and elevate the blood pressure. Opposite to that warm weather dilate the vessels and decrease blood pressure as blood pools in the vasculature.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
