What Causes Elevated Creatinine Levels While Treating Stage-4 Lung Cancer?
I have stage 4 lung cancer, have had 8 rounds of chemo in 8 months, and it was stopped because of elevating creatinine levels. No kidney damage, despite the cancer in my dead left adrenal gland. Level was 141, had 5 days of hydration, and creatinine came back 144 after hydration drip. What would cause this? Blood pressure is 128/89.
Such fluctuations in creatinine in your case can be due to, either due to decreased hydration or other causes which lead to a decreased blood flow to kidneys or it can also be drug induced. Some chemotherapy medicines can cause kidney toxicity of some grade. You can have ultrasound KUB for renal parenchyma echogeneitcy, kidney sizes and cortical thickness. You may also be asked for urinalysis for any puss cells or red cells in urine. With all these reports consult a nephrologist and meanwhile keep good hydration. Hoping you a speedy recovery. Regards.
