Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 12 yr old son has been experiencing a sudden rapid heart beat that leaves him feeling winded. or he has a series of pounding beats (like his heart skips) that have the same effect. we have noticed that he has been unusually tired after school etc. is this something to be worried about? at birth he did have a heart murmur but we were assured that it healed. he is of normal weight and has no medical problems we know of.
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It can be a condition called palpitations which is nothing but unusually high and forced heart beat. Consult a cardiologist and get an ECG and echo to look for any irregularities in the heart rhythm or any structural defect in any of the heart chamber.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
