51 yoa, female, 6 240lb been very sick with sinus infection, so went to Dr for care and had to get bloodwork done to refill bloodpressue meds. Cholesterol was good, sugar 101 and triglycerides 308. A year ago these were all perfect. My eating habits have not changed, so I don t understand.
Brief Answer: Remeasure the TG level in blood respecting the special precautions mentioned below. In case of persistence of high levels of TG in blood , then you should see an endocrinologist.
Detailed Answer: Hello, Thank you for using HCM. Your blood sugar is within the normal range, while triglycerides are almost twice higher than the upper normal border (50 - 150 mg/dl). Since the trygliceride test is strongly affected by diet and alcohol, the test should be performed at a fasting state and after 24 hours of alcohol-free time. You should eat a low fat meal the night before the test. Restrict food and fluid intake after midnight the night before the test. Repeat the test respecting the rules above mentioned. If the result is still high , than you should see an endocrinologist , in way to begin a treatment with fibrates.
