What Causes Elevation In BP Level After Discontinuing Clopidogrel?
Hi, my husband had heart attack last year and he get one stent he took clopidogrel 75 mg for one year and from 2 weeks ago he stop taki these medicine but his blood pressure is go high now , we don't know if he stope these medicine is cause high blood pressure?

Clopidogrel should not be stopped in patients with history of heart attack & angioplasty a year back without consulting your cardiologist. Clopidogrel is a anti-platelet drug therefore it reduces the risk of clot formation & further atherosclerosis( blockage formation) in patient with coronary heart disease. Therefore you should not stop this medicine without advise of your doctor.
As per increased blood pressure is concerned it should not happen due to stoppage of clopidogrel. It could be caused due to increased stress, arterial constriction, increased thyroid or adrenal hormones, increased water retention in body, reduced kidney function & other causes. You should reduce salt intake & reduce intake of caffeine containing drinks.
Hypertension or increased blood pressure in patient with history of heart disease should not be ignored & should be treated by consulting your cardiologist
