What Causes Elevation In BP Level Despite Taking Lisinopril And Carvedilol?
My mom has Multiple Sclerosis and Trigeminal Neuralgia and high blood pressure. She takes Avonex shots once a week for MS and takes Tegretrol for Trigeminal Neuralgia. She take Lisinopril 25mg and Cardedilol for HBP. She has been taking these medications for years now. Since January when she had cataract surgery her BP has been high (up to 202/92, 186/90, 176/86, etc. Sometimes it will bottom out to 60/40 but only done this a very few times. Most of the time just very high. She has been back to the cardiologist 3 times. He has increased the Carvedilol each time but this has not helped. Her Trigeminal Episodes were being controlled until the Lisinopril and Carvedilol were increased. She is now being woken up during the night with Trigeminal pain and episodes. Could the increase in these meds be causing this and what is your take on controlling the highBP
If her BP are going high like 200/90 then you should get an ECG and Echocardiography just to check if her heart functions are normal. Yes High blood pressure can cause increase in TN pain episodes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
