What Causes Elevation In The BP Level After Taking Nucynta Instead Of Percolate?

I take oxycontinwithpercocette 80mg, 3per day along with percolate 7.5mg, 4per day. I have been on this about 15 years. My Dr. Switched percolate to Nyucinta (sp?) last week Monday. My pharmacy couldn t fill it as my insurance doesn t cover the med. I haven t had any medical. My concern mostly is incredibly painful, but also my blood pressure is 180 over 95.0. Is this Dangerous? My Dr. Will be back tomorrrow

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that Nucynta might not be causing an elevation in BP as its side effect includes lowering the blood pressure and so it's dangerous in hypotension. In your case it might be some other factor or benign persistent hypertension. I hope you use some antihypertensives like telmisartan to control your BP till then. Lessen your salts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
