What Causes Eosinophils Make Up 8% Of White Blood Cells?
Dr Harrison is an antropologist who has spent the last 3 years living with a remote African tribe. He visited a sleep specialist complaining of chronic insomnia. A preliminary blood test show that eosinophils make up 8% of his white blood cells. 1.What are your suspicions? 2.How would you proceed investigating the illness?
Hello! I am a pathologist and my main suspicion is some parasitic infection. particularly since the doctor is in Africa, I would consider trypanosomia infection first. The illness could be investigated primarily by a complete blood count and peripheral smear examination. After that, maybe an MRI could be considered.
