Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Epigastric Pain Along With Chest Pain?
I have epigastric pain with some chest pain. not constant. Had egd which was normal and normal cardiac workup. what else could it be looking at. I am post surgical menopause at 46. Feeling of bloating with lots of burbing. any ideas, tired of going to doctors who just keep giving me meds
From the symptoms you are describing, it seems possible that you are suffering from heartburn. It may cause epigastric and chest pain along with bloating and burping repeatedly. Sometimes heartburn pain is so misleading that you may end up believing it as heart attack.
You can take Rabeprazole and Domperidone combination (Veloz D) twice a day for 5 days and see if it helps you. You might also need to do some lifestyle changes. You should eat more fibers in your diet and avoid sodas, caffeine, tomatoes, lemon, citrus food, chocolates, onions and high fat foods. Try not to over eat at any one time.
Have a gap of two to three hours between dinner and sleeping. It can help you to prevent regurgitation of acid.
Try to lose some weight if you are overweight. Heavy body build people are usually prone to heartburn. You can also keep a diary to maintain your diet. You can write down what you eat at what time and when heartburn symptoms start. This way you will know which food to avoid.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
