What Causes Excessive Flatulence In A Child?

Hi, My 5 year old son has been farting an awful lot the past few days. They aren t smelly and there s been no change in his diet. He eats very little typically gassy foods. Any idea why this is suddenly happening and what to do about it? He s not about it! Thanks

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Flatulence could be caused by:
*swallowed air
*The gases produced by bacteria and yeasts living in the gastrointestinal system.
I will suggest you try the following:
-Eat in small quantities and frequently
-Take enough fluids and fruits.Fruits like bananas that may rather constipate should be avoided
-Add fiber to his diet
-Avoid carbonated drinks
-Skip the gum and hard candy
You may see the Doctor for examination and a stool exam if symptoms persist or if other symptoms like abdominal pain, loose motion, fever, vomiting...appear.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
