I have been farting a lot lately, and they smell really bad, and a lot of the time I feel like they re uncontrollable. And when I say a lot, I mean like at least 5 times an hour. But I haven t been pooping as much as normal. I have a healthy diet with a lot of fruit, vegetables, nuts and protein and drink a little less than a gallon of water a day.
Hi, Excessive factulence is caused by normally swallowing air during chewing, drinking, smoking and eating high carbohydrates diet. Some abnormal causes are constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroenteritis etc. You can undergo routine blood examination with ultrasound of abdomen. Treatment is mainly depend on underlying cause or eat food which easily gets digested like rice, banana etc and chew food properly, rest of treatment depend on causative factor. Consult gastroenterologist if problem persists for long time.
