What Causes Excessive Weight Gain After A Complete Hysterectomy?

I had a complete hysterectomy almost 3 years ago. The doctor found cervical cancer at that time when the biopsy was done. I also have low thyroid. I am on medication for it. I have had it since age 24. I am 49. In the last few months I have gained roughly 15 lbs at a rate of about 1 to 1 1/2 lbs every other day. And I have been feeling like I have a lump in my throat when I swallow. Am I over reacting or should I have my thyroid checked out?

Hi your thyroid levels may have gone down further. Also after total hysterectomy, weight gain and rise in blood pressure are common due to estrogen withdrawal. You should increase your exercise--regards
