What Causes Excessive Weight Gain After Gallbladder Removal?

Hi, I have gained like 20 pounds in the last month month and a half. I don t know why I have gained so much weight. I have to have my gallbladder removed soon because I have gallstones. I also have a bad habit of waking up at night and eating. Why do you think all of a sudden I put on so much weight? Please?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your excess weight gain could be because of irregular and heavy meal intake. You can regularize your diet in the form of a big breakfast, a reasonable lunch and a light dinner. Fruits and green leafy vegetables should be taken more. You have to exercise daily with the help of treadmill, go for brisk walking, running etc. Avoid sedentary life style. Rule out hypothyroidism by serum TSH estimation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
