Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 51 year old woman. I still am having a period although starting to see changes. For the last 3 years, I am steadily gaining about 10-12 pds a year with no change in eating habit. Exercise is on and off. my husband is experiencing low T that is causing some weight gain and memory challenge. Wondering if there is a corollary for women. Could my weight gain be connected to low T or E and what are some strategies to address it if that is the case?
If you are begging to have a menopause then, hormonal changes of menopause might make you more likely to gain weight around your abdomen than around your hips and thighs.
But in general, the weight gain is usually related to aging, as well as lifestyle and genetic factors. I would suggest that you continue with regular exercise 45 mins/day for at least 3 days a week. Avoid high-calorie foods as much as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saralkumar R. Desai,
General & Family Physician
