Hi,
Generally many of the women experience few significant features during the time of
menstruation especially just before menstruation, in some women this may continue for post menstrual period also. This is called
premenstrual syndrome, and the usual features are mood swings, breast tenderness, fatigue, bowel disturbances etc.
In some women it may be associated with compulsive eating or binge eating. It usually occurs due to hormonal imbalance during that period. Usually women prefer high carbohydrate diet during this period as this will increase blood sugar levels and serotonin levels which will lead to feeling of happiness.
If it is not disturbing your day to day activities or health, no need to worry. If it leading to
excessive weight gain, imbalance of blood sugar levels, better to consult dietitian and fix
diet plan. Meditation, yoga etc can also help to decrease this problem to some extent. In severe cases only
behavioral therapy is required.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
