What Causes Eye Floaters On Lateral Movement Of Eye?

Very suddenly last night I experienced a flashing of light in my left eye. It has continued today. It occurs when I move my eyes laterally, not vertically, and appears as a slightly arching vertical light, not quite semi-circular, on the left side of my left eye whenever I move my eyes from side to side. What would have caused this and should I be concerned? It is not associated with a sudden headache or any other discomfort.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Please don't panic. Your symptoms suggest possible eye problems (cataract, glaucoma or retinal) which needs to be attended and managed earliest. Early detection would prevent progress of the problem. Consult expert eye specialist for specific advice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
