What Causes Eye Floaters When Diagnosed With Posterior Vitreous Detachment?

Hello. I was recently diagnosed with posterior viseral detachment by my eye doctor. I am 47, but have been wearing glasses since the age of 12. Apparently, the detachment is halfway through its process. I am feeling quite anxious about this. My symptoms are floaters and at times, flashes at the corner of my eyes ( mostly my right eye). I also suffer from sinusitus. Finally, I seem to have a heightened sensitivity to bright lights. I am a teacher and so, I am on the computer often. What are the chances of a retinal tear when someone is halfway through the process? How will I know if I have one? Should I follow up with my eye dr in two months- even if my symptoms go away? He mentioned that symptoms can last anyehere from 2-6 months. Thanks!
