Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was vacationing in Florida when this last Wed in the middle of the night I woke up to go to the bathroom when I noticed bigger than usual floaters and I squiggly line. My visual acuity is good. I thought I also saw some light flashing oh so briefly both in the last two nights. Florida was good. I wore my eyeglasses which have UV protection along with a visor. I took one ride 11 days ago with no problems or side-effects. Our room was air conditioned but was sealed to keep Florida bus out and the fan system did not pump in fresh air. I always felt like I was oxygen deprived. I just got back and am debating if I should take off for emergency or wait to see my Ophtalmologist in the morning.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The symptoms of floaters and flashing lights in front of eyes is suggestive of disorders of vitreous humor and retina. These symptoms are probably not due to external environment. What is the status of visual acquity? Is there any change in vision? However, in any case, you need to consult your ophthalmologist at the earliest for clinical assessment to look for any abnormality of posterior chamber of eye which includes retina and vitreous humor.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
