Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fatigue And Body Tremors After An Increased Lisinopril Dosage?
I have been prescribed for 10 lisinopril for about 1 year. Now it has been raised to 20. I am weak, have tremors in my whole body and just a general feeling of malaise and no energy. My blood work panel was good, but I can hardly function. Could this be due to an allergic reaction to the medication?
Since you were already taking lisinopril for a year, an increase in dose would not usually cause an allergic reaction.
It may be that the increased dose is decreasing your blood pressure more and making you feel fatigued.
It is also possible something unrelated to the lisinopril is going on, such as a viral infection. If this has been going on for less than a couple weeks, I would suggest waiting it out to see if it improves over the next week or so.
If it has been going on for longer than that, if your blood pressure is on the lower side now (less than 120/70), I would talk with your doctor about going back to 10 mg.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
