What Causes Fatigue, Chills, Low Grade Fever And Cough?

For the last couple weeks my 23 year old son has been ill off and on. symptoms mostly tired, chills, 99 temp., coughing but throat clear. tested for mono and strep and both negative. Was told Pharyngitis and given an antibiotic hours earlier. Now coughing up some bright red blood. should we be concerned overnight?

Coughing blood (hemoptysis) should be further investigated.

It's a sign of lower respiratory tract disorder. A chest X ray is advised as a primary investigation.

ESR is a blood test that's also recommended. It gives suggestive results for tuberculosis infection and autoimmune inflammation.
