What Causes Fecal Incontinence While Having Constipation In A Child?
My son year old normally struggles when pooing. Every 2-3 days, very large and firm. He recently had a gastro type illness which resulted in a very raw bottom and dots on his bottom. I have been applying Clozole which has helped greatly. NOW he seems to be pooing his pants without realizing. Why???
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of fecal incontinence while having constipation which could be due to infection either by viral microorganism leading to acute gastroenteritis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid intake of outside food. You should take Azithromycin as well as it could be the case of co-infection. Drink plenty of liquids. Avoid giving any sharp, spicy and fried food substances. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Get blood tests done if symptoms keeps on persisting. Do tepid sponging as well. You should maintain hydration status of child. Give diet rich in fibrous food and give food in frequent and small amounts and avoid large meals.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
