What Causes Fever Along With Body Chills And Cough?

For the past few days I have fever, and chills, coughing, lethargy, body aches, sensitivity to cold, loss of appetite but no sore throat. Have drank lots of liquid but it seems to be persistent. At night I take Niquil (sp?) that helps me sleep but wake up at 3 am with chills. Is this a viral infection and just have to wait for it to work through my system?

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Mostly upper respiratory tract infections are viral that is can be from adenovirus like infection...

If in 5 to 6 days improvement not seen then it could be allergic or bacterial and then further course with anti allergic and antibiotic drugs needed...

For determining cause whether it is bacterial or allergic inflammation investigation done with....
.
1.CBC
2.AEC
3.ASO titre
4.Throat swab

Hence if you are not improving better to investigate further with above work up I mentioned

Do steam inhalation three times a day

Salt water gargle done

Vitamin C lozenges useful

Avoid excess spicy foods and fatty meals

Take one tsp turmeric powder with hot milk daily
