What Causes Fever, Vomiting, Sore Throat And Rashes On Nose?

my son complained of a sore throat thursday jan 28 ran a fever of 100.5 no higher, vomit once Thursday night and once Friday morning, no more since then. it is sunday jan 31. he has a mild rash on right check and on tip of nose to me it looks like hives or pimples it is hard to describe. he is up to date with all his vaccines.??? what can he have??? fever stopped friday night has been 97.3 which is his normal temp.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of fever, vomiting, sore throat and rashes on nose. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like viral pharyngitis or sore throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order throat swab test and CT scan to confirm the diagnosis and rule out strep throat. Doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs (acyclovir) or antibacterial ( amoxicillin ) depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestant and expectorant. Avoid taking spicy and sharp food. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. For now do warm saline gargles and take steam thrice a day. You should take antipyretics and tepid sponging to lower down fever.
