What Causes Fluctuating Blood Pressure Levels And Fatigue?

Last January I had a virus. Blood pressure up and down. Lack of energy. This week I had the same, except I didn t have a sore throat. Went to Urgent Care Friday, did all sorts of tests EKG, blood etc. and nothing was abnormal. I m used to swimming a mile or so every other day... last Monday all I could do was 1200 yards, and I was exhausted. Wednesday I could only do 900 yards. But I did ride my bike on boardwalk. I do all sorts of mediacal drugs, Plavaix, ace inhibitor, betta blocker, yada, yada and have been doing so for years. So somethng has changed. Thirod test results not back yet. Seems energy returns when I eat. That is different than the past. Could my sugar be going up or down? a

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Unusual fatigue which responds to eating could be indicative of underlying diabetes. I recommend getting your Fasting and post prandial blood sugar tested, HbA1c levels checked.
It is also important to undergo stress EKG testing to rule out cardiac issues. Your thyroid results also need to be reviewed by yoir doctor as thyroid abnormalities can contribute to fatigue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
