I have been monitoring my blood pressure for 4 days and it has been going up and down but has remained high I have a reading of 188 over 111and have a headache the second reading was 183 over 103 I am travelling to Portugal today should I contact a doctor
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If you have a Blood pressure (BP) of 183/100 with a headache, then you should definitely go to a doctor and get started on some antihypertensive medications.
High blood pressure with a headache is not a great sign and should be dealt with immediately.
If you are already on medications for your BP, ensure that you take your medications on time and visit your doctor to increase the dose of the same.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
