Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Bp fluctuates so often throughout the day. It can be anywhere from 106/65-130/95. Usually 130/95 right after work and before I eat dinner. It seems to go down to 106-10/65-72 around 11 pm. Why does it go so high sometimes? and should I worry? 35 year old female, overweight (200lbs) , but very active. Lost 72lbs in the past 2 years and walk 2 miles 3-5 days a week.
Hi, Thanks for writing in HCM. I understand your concern for fluctuations in blood pressure. The readings you have posted are within normal range of fluctuations. Hence you need not worry much. This could be due to electrolyte imbalance. Since you say you are overweight, thyroid disorder and adrenal disorders also needs to be ruled out. Kindly get the following tests done. 1. Serum electrolytes. 2. Serum FT3, FT4 and TSH levels. 3. Ultrasound scan of abdomen. Kindly consult Physician with the above reports if any abnormalities has been detected for appropriate management. Otherwise, it is better you reduce weight and add salt to your diet, which should help you to stabilize the blood pressure. Wish you good health.
