What Causes Fluctuation In Blood Pressure?

What does it mean when your blood pressure goes up and down in the same day? BP was 134/82 with 66 pulse in am. Went to 150/88/108, 109/74/113 and 110/76/140 by afternoon. I take supplements to control BP which always works, but not sure what s going on now. I m a Holistic med patient. This is unusual.

Hi,

Blood pressure fluctuation throughout the day is a normal occurrence and can be influenced by various factors such as stress, physical activity, diet, medication, and overall health status. However, significant and persistent fluctuations in blood pressure can be a cause for concern and may indicate an underlying health issue that needs to be addressed.

Some possible causes of blood pressure fluctuation include:
* Stress and anxiety: Emotional stress and anxiety can cause a temporary increase in blood pressure.
* Medications: Certain medications, such as decongestants, steroids, and birth control pills, can cause blood pressure to fluctuate.
* Physical activity: Exercise and other physical activities can cause a temporary increase in blood pressure.
* Diet: Consuming foods high in salt or caffeine can cause blood pressure to fluctuate.
* Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as kidney disease, diabetes, and sleep apnea, can cause blood pressure to fluctuate.
* White coat syndrome: Some people experience an increase in blood pressure when they are in a medical setting or around healthcare professionals.

It is important to keep track of your blood pressure readings and report any significant fluctuations or symptoms to your healthcare provider. If you are taking supplements or other alternative medicines for blood pressure control, discuss this with your healthcare provider to ensure that they are safe and effective for you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
