Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My father has a churning of upper abdomen, around the umbilical area, at night. he has had ulcers before and takes clopitap which is a blood thinner. we went to see general physician and she checked for any pain in stomach or abdomen or gallbladder. he does not vomit or have diarrhea and not constipated. he now has a loss of appetite after taking Prilosec for the past 10 days and takes Mylanta to help stomach. he is unable to sleep at night mainly and the churning starts around 11 or 12. we have removed fatty foods, fried foods and he is eating mushed food mostly. He did not see any black stools or dark urine. He has not passed a lot of gas but sometimes belches( not often at all). His BP was 150 last week and came down to 140 this week. we want to know what to do? should he take peptobismol perhaps? we are afraid to try anything due to the number of meds he already takes and his heart condition. he sleeps all day now but unable to sleep at night. Doc asked him to try Benadryl. we got zzzquil. but he does not sleep at night due to this uneasy pain or cramps. he is unable to pinpoint if that is pain or just turning of stomach.
Your blood pressure is normal after medicine. Slight variation in blood pressure is common within the same day. Even intra observer variation is also there. So no need to worry.
It's not fluctuating too much. Continue with your medicine and go for regular checking of blood pressure. Take the treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
