just took my blood pressure came back 148 / 68 this morning took it as instructed was 148 / 63 waited 5 minutes took it again it went down to 143 / 63 then waited 30 minutes took it again after drinking coffee and having breakfast came back as 127 / 61. What is this this is first time it has been this high normally my pressure is low in the 108 / 60 range has gone up to 128 / 68 but never higher until today. Need I worry and what should I do at this instant.?
If you are measuring BP with a digital BP measuring device, sometimes variations are seen. These could be about a few mms. Variations mentioned in the readings are in systolic pressure. Diastolic is fairly constant. One need not worry over this. If you see consistently higher systolic (over 140 mm) then may have to consider taking hypotensives. One precaution is reduce salt intake in diet, do not take any extra salt while eating. avoid smoking and alcohol. Exercise regularly and learn relaxation techniques. These things will help in maintaining normal pressure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
