What Causes Flushing Of The Face After Taking Spironolactone While On Anesthesia?
Hello Doctor, I am a 47 yr old female, 5 4 and 118 lbs. I had a stapendectomy yesterday while under general anesthesia. I took a 100 mg dose of prescribed spironolactone, Motrin and 1 dose of levofloxin since being discharged yesterday. I am currently experiencing flushing of my face. Is this a common side effect of any of the medications and/or anesthesia? I did not notice the flushing until this afternoon or I would have reported to the OR nurse and the doctor s nurse that called earlier today. Sincerely, Lori

What Causes Flushing Of The Face After Taking Spironolactone While On Anesthesia?
Hello, Flushing can be a side effect of spironolactone or levofloxacin as both medicines may cause a skin rash, itching, severe skin reactions, irregular heart rates. You should immediately consult with the treating doctor so that the medicines can be replaced by the ones that will suit you better. If you have been taking medications other than what you have been prescribed, you should get your treating doctor informed. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
