What Causes Foul Smell In Hair While On Doxycycline?

Hi I am extremely frustrated. I know this sounds gross but hair smells like urine. More like very strong cat pee. I have washed and washed it does no good. I am on doxycycline for a massive unknown insect bite on the back of my head. It constantly leaks clear fluid and blood. Does this have something to do with it or should I go see my doctor again. My bite is getting smaller but the smell isn t getting better. Thank you for your time. I also should mention I have MCTD and am very prone to infections and illnesses.

Your symptoms seem to be related to doxycycline use.

The elimination half-life of doxycycline is between 16 to 22 hours.

This is the time it takes for your body to reduce the plasma levels by half.

It usually takes around 5.5 x elimination half-life (hours) before a drug is completely cleared from your system.

So you may need 5 days for the symptoms to go away.
