What Causes Foul Smell In The Ear?

Yes, My son is speciel needs, and ENT did a tympanoplasty on Juner 21, His ear has a foul smell and I don ;t have a appt till Dec. I haven t let any water get into it was told the mesh would shred and the surgery would be a total waste? Making appt tomorrow - any suggestions, really bad smell but no drainage

I can understand your concern.
Foul smell in the ear after Tympanoplasty surgery suggests infection.Even though no discharge is draining outside,but still it may be present inside.
As you have taken precautions of no water going inside ear after surgery,there are chances that infection might have occurred after a cold infection in the nose.
It would be advisable to follow up Otolaryngologist doctor for ear examination.Oral Antibiotics might be needed.
