What Causes Foul Smelling Urination After Surgery?

Hi. I received general anesthesia for a minor surgical procedure eight days ago. I've noticed that my urine has a strong odor to it--it was particularly powerful the same day of my surgery but it is still lingering. Is it likely that I am smelling the anesthesia being voided from my system? I have no other symptoms and feel fine. Thanks in advance for your help!

Foul smelling urine could be due to anesthetic drugs or other drugs like antibiotics used after surgery which get excreted through urine. Other possibility is urinary tract infection which is quite common during hospital stay. Kindly do a urine routine examination to look for any infection. Most cases resolve spontaneously. As of now drink plenty of water. If problem persist, consult a physician and get evaluated.
