What Causes Frequent Diarrhea After Having A Partial Colectomy?
I am a 63 year old woman who had a partial colectomy (16 inches removed) 3 months ago due to diverticulitis. I have felt great up until the past couple of weeks and am experiencing diarrhea every few days which includes some pain/cramping at the site where they reattached my colon to the rectum. My appetite is very healthy, am not losing weight (weigh 118 or so) and do not consume a lot of alcohol. A week ago vomiting accompanied my diarrhea but I was feeling fine prior.
Welcome at HCM I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns. As far as diarrhoe and vomitting is concerned, there is need to look for the cause. It may be most likely due to the GASTROENTERITIS. you may need to see your doctor for proper assessment. you may need to use antibiotics < ciprofloxacin> along with the antiemetics< dimenhydrinate> to relieve your symptoms. Meanwhile stay calm . Get well soon Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask Regards Dr Saad Sultan
