What Causes Frequent Diarrhea?

I am suffering from frequent diarrhea and my doctor thinks it is diet related. Can green grapes cause diarrhea. What about string cheese,. That is all I had when the symptoms started. I do not drink coffee but do drink diet soda. I am 70 and at my ideal weight. Exercise daily. Lap swim or play golf everyday. Thank you.
