Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having daily frontal headaches for over 3 weeks. They are often present when I wake up. At first I was getting relief with 2 long lasting Tylenol and 1 aleve but my neurologist said the aleve would cause rebound headaches so I quit taking the aleve. The neurologist thought I was having psychological headaches but now 2 weeks later, I don t think that is the cause. I do have chronic migraines but these are not migraines. They are both burning and dull headaches. I sometimes get relief from the Tylenol alone but not always. I am not using Excedrin because I am very sensitive to caffeine and too much of it can trigger headaches. I do not consume caffeine. I have tried Imitrex on 2 occasions but it does not work with these headaches. I don t know what to do next.

Painkillers can be taken only when needed for the pain, work well in most cases. Attention to lifestyle factors such as stress, posture, and exercise may help to prevent the headache. Some advices are: • Eat a balanced, regular diet. • Take balanced regular exercise. • Pay attention to posture and core muscles. • Sleep on two pillows or fewer. • Drink plenty of water. • Have plenty of sleep.
