What Causes Genital Herpes Despite Using Valtrex?

I just found out 4 days ago in the ER that I had genital herpes. I ve been double dosing my valtrex but it doesn t seem to be getting better at all. When I wake up in the morning it s all wet from my vagina to my anal area. The only way I can urinate is to put my shower head down there. Is there any creme or something that will give me some relief?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The severe discomfort at vaginal area with intake of Valtrex, must be evaluated for associated bacterial or fungal infection also. My guidelines for better recovery:
- Cleansing of local part with antiseptic liquid
- Sitz bath with epsom salt and lavender oil
- Local application of aloe vera gel with turnmeric paste on alternate basis for ayurvedic healing
- Plenty of liquids to avoid secondary bacterial urinary infection
- Discuss the need of antibiotics with or without anti-fungal medicines with your doctor
- Avoid sexual intercourse (if active) till recovery

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
