What Causes Green Oil In Stool After Finishing Treatment For H-pylori?
I finished antibiotic treatment for H-Pylori about 2 weeks ago and one week ago I started noticing drops of green oil in my stool - they float to the surface and smell like burnt oil. Yesterday I soaked through underwear and pants; it just kept coming out of me. Better today, but still lots of drops when I go the bathroom. Is it serious or could it be a side effect from one of the antibiotics? Also, how concerned should I be about H-Pylori and how soon should I retest? Thanks!
You have just completed 2 week course of H. Pylori treatment which includes 1 antibiotic like Amoxicillin, 1 PPI like Omeprazole and 1 Antacid. None of these are responsible for causing the symptoms you have just described.
One possible reason could be bleeding from stomach ulcer which forms clots till it reaches to colon and appears in stool as dark colored jelly like material.

Hello, You have just completed 2 week course of H. Pylori treatment which includes 1 antibiotic like Amoxicillin, 1 PPI like Omeprazole and 1 Antacid. One possible reason could be bleeding from stomach ulcer which forms clots till it reaches to colon and appears in stool as dark colored jelly like material. Consult gastroenterologist and get endoscopy done to rule out bleeding peptic ulcer. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
